#BestOfThe2000s: Marcus Williams
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos have had some terrific tight ends over the years, but the fans have spoken, and Marcus Williams, a rising senior, is the selection as the tight end on the #BestOfThe2000s team, voted on by the fanbase. He becomes the sixth member of the team voted in. The Lobo Football twitter account is seeking nominations for offensive line, a position that should garner plenty of names.
Williams picked up more than half the votes, with 52.3% of the vote. It was a close race for second, with Lucas Reed topping Reece White 21.5% to 18.4%. John Mulchrone was fourth with 5.4% of the votes. Overall, there were a total of 325 votes cast.
The series is a way to engage Lobo fans with the current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marcus Williams has been a three-year starter at tight end, and he has turned into one of the best overall players for UNM, as he also starts on most special teams. Featuring tremendous hands and terrific blocking technique, he is a tight end for all occasions. Last year he was second on the team in receptions with 26, and yards with 428. He had a career-high six catches against Nevada last year, and overall for his career, he has 40 receptions, 593 yards and four touchdowns catches.
