Fullerton named one of D1Baseball.com’s Top Junior Hitters

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – While his first season as a Lobo baseball player abruptly ended due to the Coronavirus pandemic, junior newcomer Harry Fullerton was already making quite an impression at the plate. So much so that D1Baseball.com ranked him among the top-50 junior class hitters in all of the country.
 OFFICIAL D1BASEBALL.COM RELEASE

One of the premier online sources of Division I baseball, D1Baseball.com complied this list in an analytical fashion and used statistics from what was played thus far in the 2020 season. They used the following three categories to rate players: Plate Discipline, Hit Ability and Game Power. Those three categories were then combined to calculate an Analytics Score.

According to D1Baseball, their definition of Plate Discipline as a measure of how well a batter controls the strike zone. Hit Ability was defined simply as a batter’s ability to flat-out hit and reach base. Game Power was defined straightforward as the ability to produce extra-base hits.

Prior to the abrupt ending to the season, Fullerton, who ranked 45th on the list, had played and started in all 18 of the Lobos games and was hitting .375 (24-for-64) with a slugging percentage of .719 and an on-base percentage of .487. In just those 18 games, Fullerton had scored 20 runs, hit seven doubles, three triples, three home runs and drove in 16 runs.

His double, triple and home run numbers were either out-right the best on the team or tied for the team-lead. Additionally, his batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage all ranked in the top-5 in the Mountain West.
