ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The first of four votes for the linebacker position for the #BestOfThe2000s Lobo Football poll is done, and Dallas Bollema will have his place on the team as he was the first of four linebackers voted to the team.  The second poll will continue over the weekend with the winner announced on Monday.

Bollema, who played from 2010-13, picked up 48.5% of the vote, topping Billy Strother (19.5%), Clint McPeak (18.9%) and Gary Davis (13.0%).  Overall, 169 votes were cast by Lobo fans, meaning Bollema picked up 82 votes.  By finishing second, Strother advanced to the next poll, which also has Gary Davis, Dakota Cox and Fola Fashola.   Strother advanced by one vote, 33-32.  Whichever player finishes second in the vote will carry over ot the next poll, giving everyone a fair shake.

The series is a way to engage Lobo fans with the current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bollema played from 2010-13, and he twice led the team in interceptions (in 2012 and 2013).  The Artesia native racked up 89 tackles to lead the team in 2012, and while the Lobos as a team struggle through his four seasons, he was a part of the rebuilding of Lobo football that eventually led to two bowl games.

Overall, Bollema recorded 290 tackles in his career with 13.0 tackles for loss.  He recorded four career interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
