Robertson and Hosey play final game in The Pit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Aisia Robertson and Jordan Hosey, the two seniors on the 2019-20 University of New Mexico women’s basketball team, played their final game inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit on Monday night. The duo went on to score 43 combined points and received a well-deserved standing ovation upon their respective exits in the closing seconds of a 79-66 victory by visiting Air Force.

Hosey, who is in her lone season as a Lobo, did most of her scoring damage in the first half as she was perfect from the field, going 5-of-5 and scoring 10 points. The Houston, Texas native went on to score 13 points in her Pit finale.

Playing in her second season for the Lobos, Robertson got off to a slow start offensively with just two points in the first half. Typical of her career path at UNM in coming back from a season-ending ACL injury late last season, Robertson fought back on Monday night and turned in a career performance as she ended with a career-high 30 points. Robertson’s previous career-high in scoring was 28 points against Houston back in 2018.

Over half of Robertson’s 30 points came in the fourth quarter alone as she scored 16. The offensive surge that Robertson went on in that quarter helped the Lobos trim a 21-point deficit at the beginning of the period down to eight points with just over two minutes left on the clock on a made three-pointer by Robertson.

Air Force, who led from wire-to-wire in the game, finally slowed the Lobos furious comeback effort on their next trip down the floor and regained a double-digit lead that they would carry to the final horn.

Robertson and Hosey were joined in double figures by Ahlise Hurst as she scored 12 points.

The Lobos will now turn their attention to their regular season finale on the road at Utah State on Thursday, February 27. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MT).
