ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to face Boise State on the road in Boise on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the first time since opening the Mountain West season against the Broncos on Dec. 4 in Albuquerque. With a full roster, UNM claimed an 80-78 victory inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.

UNM (17-11, 6-9 MW) heads into Sunday’s contest riding a three-loss streak including two straight home games as the Lobos have not been on the road since Feb. 11 at No. 4 San Diego State. UNM is 2-7 in road matchups on the season despite its 14-3 home record.

Boise State (18-10, 10-6 MW) has gone 2-2 in its last four matchups following a five-win streak. The Broncos’ losses came against Utah State (70-61) and No. 4 SDSU (72-55). The Broncos are 12-2 on the season at home, 7-1 in conference play.

New Mexico is led by four active players averaging in double figures in conference play including redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle (14.9), senior Corey Manigault (14.3), redshirt-junior Vance Jackson (12.2) and redshirt-junior Zane Martin (11.9). Jackson also leads UNM in rebounding with 5.7 per game.

The Broncos also have four players scoring 10+ points per game in Mountain West play including senior Justinian Jessup (17.9), redshirt-junior Derrick Alston (15.0), junior Abu Kigab (10.6) and senior RJ Williams (10.1). Williams also leads Boise State in rebounds with 7.7 per game in conference competition.

SERIES HISTORY
The last time the two teams met was in the earliest conference opener for UNM in Mountain West history, on Dec. 4, 2019, when the Lobos still had a full roster. The Lobos claimed the victory, 80-78, to kick off the MW season for both teams.

The Lobos lead the series 12-5 including a 4-3 road advantage. UNM has won the last two matchups preceded by a pair of Boise State wins. The Lobos are 2-2 over the last four contests with the Broncos but 6-2 over the last eight.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 50-44 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 78-50 in his fourth season as a head coach. Boise State’s head coach Leon Rice is 196-126 in his 10th season at the helm of the Broncos, the same in his career.
