    Alumni Day: Lobo men’s basketball alumni will make a special appearance during Saturday’s game as they return to their home – The Pit.
    Teddy Bear Toss: In conjunction with BeKindUNM, the Lobos will be collaborating for a Teddy Bear Toss at halftime in which fans can donate teddy bears on the court that will go to the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Department. They will then be given to children in traumatic situations.
    Halftime Recognitions: Lobo student-athletes will also be on the court at halftime to be recognized for their outstanding academic achievement! Along with the academic celebration, UNM’s men’s tennis team will have a ring presentation ceremony to celebrate their 2019 Mountain West Regular-Season Championship.
    Lobo Club Wristbands: The first 4,000 fans into Saturday’s game will receive special wristbands from the Lobo Club as part of ‘Thank You Week’ in which Lobo student-athletes and staff reach out and thank donors that make UNM Athletics possible.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to return home on Saturday for a 4 p.m. matchup against UNLV after falling to the Runnin’ Rebels on the road earlier this season. UNM is 14-1 inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit this season.

The last time UNM (17-9, 6-7 MW) played in front of its home fans was a week ago when it earned a 29-point victory over Wyoming and featured a trio of players registering 20+ points. 

The Lobos enter Saturday’s contest coming off of a loss on the road at No. 4 SDSU Tuesday while UNLV took on Nevada on Wednesday, falling in overtime to the Wolf Pack on its home court in Las Vegas.

The Lobos are led by five players averaging scoring in double figures in conference play including redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle (16.1), senior Corey Manigault (15.0), redshirt-junior Vance Jackson (12.5), redshirt-junior Zane Martin (12.5) and redshirt-sophomore Vante Hendrix (10.0). The Lobos’ leading active rebounder is Jackson with 5.9 rebounds per game in MW play.

UNLV is led by two players scoring in double digits in conference competition including sophomore Bryce Hamilton (21.8) and junior Amauri Hardy (13.2). Junior Mbacke Diong leads the Runnin’ Rebels in rebounds with 7.3 per game in league play.

SERIES HISTORY
UNLV leads the all-time series over the Lobos 36-25 while UNM holds a narrow 14-13 advantage at home in The Pit. UNLV has taken the last three meetings, the last two of which have been in Vegas.

Neither team has won more than three games in a row in the series since 2008.

The last time the Lobos topped the Runnin’ Rebels was on Feb. 25, 2018 in Albuquerque. UNM earned an exciting 91-90 win to complete the sweep over UNLV in Paul Weir’s first season. That game marked the end of a three-game run in the series for the Lobos.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 50-42 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 78-48 in his fourth season as a head coach. UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger is 12-14 in his first season at the helm of the Runnin’ Rebels, 92-47 in his career.
