ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to play its second game of the season within just two days of its first with a contest against Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday at 5 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. CT. The game will be a neutral contest that will take place at Rice University in Tudor Fieldhouse.

The Lobos won their first matchup of the season with a 72-61 victory over Rice on Sunday and enters the game 1-0. OLLU is 1-1 with its win coming in an exciting upset over NCAA DI opponent Texas State (61-58).

OLU has had five games postponed this season, but has played two exhibition contests and two full games.

Familiar Faces:

Lobo junior and New Mexico native Clay Patterson will face his younger brother David for the first time ever on Tuesday. Both New Mexico Gatorade Players of the Year have been on the same teams throughout their lives and this will be their first time playing against each other. Making it a family affair, OLLU assistant coach Sean Patterson is also the Patterson brothers’ second cousin.

Thus far, the only other brothers to have played against each other this season across the country appear to be Jordan and Nik Mains (Arizona/Northern Arizona). While the Patterson brothers will hit the court Tuesday, Dontrell and Devontae Shuler (Middle Tennessee & Ole Miss) will play the next day.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday’s game will be the first meeting between the two teams in the programs’ histories.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 53-47 in his fourth year at the helm of the Lobos, 81-53 in his fifth season as a head coach. OLLU head coach Chris Dial is 18-38 in his third season with the Saints and is the same in his career.
