ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Riding a perfect 13-0 win streak at home inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit, The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will face a huge test as the Lobos (16-6, 5-4 MW) welcome No. 4 San Diego State (21-0, 10-0 MW) on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. The Aztecs remain the only undefeated squad in the nation and bring with them the longest active win streak in the nation of 21 straight games.

Lobo fans are encouraged to wear RED for the Lobo red out on Wednesday.

UNM enters Wednesday’s game coming off a tough, 22-point loss at Nevada on Saturday. Despite kicking off the season 15-3, earning a pair of appearances in the nation’s top-25 polls, the Lobos are 1-3 in their last four contests after recently going down four starters.

New Mexico’s perfect 13-0 home record marks the first time the Lobos have gone 13-0 in The Pit since 1998-99. The record is the best in UNM’s Mountain West era as the 1998-99 season was its last as a member of the WAC. That season, UNM went on to a 16-0 record at home before suffering its first home loss.

Head coach Paul Weir’s Lobos are no strangers to upsetting and knocking off top-10 squads in The Pit. The last time UNM hosted a top-10 opponent was last season when UNM pulled off a 27-point victory over then-undefeated and No. 5/6 Nevada on Jan. 5, 2019.

The Lobos are led by five players in double figures on the season, three of which have competed in the last two games: senior Corey Manigault (12.0), redshirt-junior Zane Martin (10.7) and redshirt-sophomore Vante Hendrix.

The Aztecs are led by a trio of players in double figures on the season including junior Malachi Flynn (16.8), senior Yanni Wetzell (12.1) and junior Matt Mitchell (11.1).
