ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is returning home after a pair of games on the road on Tuesday night looking to defend its 12-0 record inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit. The Lobos (15-5, 4-3 MW) will take on the San José State Spartans (6-13, 2-5 MW) at 8 p.m. MT on AT&T SportsNet.
The Lobos will also be hosting a special “Suits & Sneakers” game to bring awareness to pediatric cancer and support fundraising for Children’s Cancer Fund of NM. The team will be wearing special shooting shirts that fans can also purchase to donate to the cause.
UNM enters Tuesday’s game coming off of a tough road trip with its first pair of back-to-back losses this season. The Lobos fell by 21 points to UNLV on Saturday just three days after SJSU dropped an 11-point decision to the Runnin’ Rebels. The Spartans have not played since that contest.
SUITS & SNEAKERS
Tuesday night, not only are the Lobos continuing their ongoing support of the American Cancer Society’s “Suits & Sneakers” campaign, but they’ll also be supporting a cause even closer to home.
Lobo assistant coach Jerome Robinson’s niece Olivia “Liv” was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma (cancer of the central nervous system) in May and the Robinson family has been spreading the word on pediatric cancer in Albuquerque – and beyond.
The campaign as caught fire with the hashtag “BeLIVe” and in Tuesday’s game, not only will Oliva be in attendance, but so will children and families affiliated with the Children’s Cancer Fund of NM (CCFNM).
Lobo fans will be able to donate to CCFNM by purchasing shirts that match special team shirts, sporting the phrases #BeLIVing” and “LIV2HOOP.”
Fans can donate online by visiting: GoLobos.com/BeLIVe
Fans can purchase matching shirts in person, or by visiting: GoLobos.com/BeLIVeShirt
All proceeds go to CCFNM.
