Heather Dyche named Assistant Coach of U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico head women’s soccer coach Heather Dyche will continue her relationship with the United States Women’s National Team as she has been named as an assistant coach of the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team.

Dyche’s appointment will see her be a part of the upcoming 2020 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championships in the Dominican Republic from Feb. 15 – Mar. 1, and if the team qualifies, the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which will be held in Panama and Costa Rica this coming August.

Dyche will continue her duties with the Lobos as her team prepares for spring practice and the upcoming 2020 women’s soccer season — her 6th as head coach at UNM.

As an assistant, Dyche will be working under newly-appointed head coach Laura Harvey, who takes the new post after a highly successful coaching career in the National Women’s Soccer League where she is second all-time in wins and was named the NWSL Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with Laura and our U.S. U-20 National Team,” said Dyche.  “It’s always a huge honor to be asked and it allows me to gain really valuable experience as a coach that I can bring back to our program at UNM and continue to try and raise our level.”

This stint with the U-20 Women’s National Team builds on Coach Dyche’s previous experiences within the national team organization.

This past summer, Dyche was in France working as a game analyst for FIFA during the USWNT’s run to a second-straight World Cup victory. Prior to that, Dyche has worked for U.S. Soccer during the 2015 World Cup in Canada, the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and also served as an assistant coach for the U-15, U-16, U-18, and U-20 youth national teams in international competition.

Dyche holds an impressive list of licensing credentials. She earned a United States Soccer Foundation (USSF) National A License in 2010, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Premier Diploma in 2013, a CONCACAF D License in 2013 and a U.S. Youth Soccer Association National Youth License in 2010.
