ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian set to return for First Pitch Banquet on Jan. 24

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – ESPN baseball personality Tim Kurkjian is set to be the keynote speaker for a second-straight year at The University of New Mexico Baseball’s First Pitch Banquet. This year’s banquet is scheduled be held on Friday, January 24 at The Event Center at Sandia Golf Club.

The banquet will also have former Lobo Dee Dennis Jr. honored as the MVP honoree, a special appearance by former Lobo All-American Jordan Pacheco as well as a special honoring of the 2000 Mountain West Championship team.

“We are excited to have Tim Kurkjian return as our keynote speaker for our First Pitch Banquet,” said head coach Ray Birmingham. “The amount of baseball knowledge and endless stories about the game, the players and coaches throughout the years that Tim has on demand in his brain make for an entertaining evening.”

“Our First Pitch Banquet has been the best banquet at UNM for the past several years and it is hard ticket to get, so I encourage Lobo baseball fans to make sure they don’t wait. It is also a great chance to meet the 2020 Lobos and help us honor the 2000 baseball team.” added Birmingham.

Tim Kurkjian joined ESPN in March 1998 as both a reporter for Baseball Tonight and a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine. He continues to provide insight and analysis through his writing and regular appearances on Baseball Tonight and other ESPN studio shows including SportsCenter.

The banquet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will feature cocktails, dinner, and both a silent and live auction. Pricing for the event is $1,500 a table or $150 per person.
