Catlin went into the final round a few strokes behind, but closed with an outstanding final-round score of 64 to claim the win. With the victory, he moves into the Top-20 (14th) on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings.
In his time as a Lobo, the four-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete finished with a highly-decorated career that began with earning Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2010. He was named All-American Honorable Mention in 2011-12 and earned Mountain West Academic All-American status twice. He was also a three-time Mountain West All-Conference Team honoree (2010, 2012, 2013).
Not only is Catlin faring well in the European Tour Race to Dubai Rankings but fellow former Lobos Victor Perez and Gavin Green are also among the top 40. Perez sits 18th while Green is 36th. Perez and Green were also three-time Mountain West All-Conference honorees in their Lobo careers. Perez joins Catlin on the Lobo MW Academic All-American list while Green was twice named Mountain West Golfer of the Year (2014, 2015).
Green finished his career at UNM a three-time All-American (Third Team, 2012-13/Second Team, 2013-14/First Team, 2014-15).
Fun Lobo Golf fact: on the same date that Catlin came from behind with his 64 for the victory, Green shot a final-round score of 72 to win his third consecutive William H. Tucker Intercollegiate title in 2014! It also marked the Lobos’ third-straight William H. Tucker title, a 14-shot victory over second-place Texas Tech.
