ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Michael Tuohy played like a man possessed on the football field.  The voting for the #BestOfThe2000s team showed, as Tuohy was voted as the first of three defensive linemen for the team.

Tuohy came from behind to top Tyler Donaldson in the voting to become the 15th honoree on the team.  Tuohy finished with 59.8% of the vote, with Donaldson finishing second at 22.3%, which advanced him to the second round of voting.

The series is a way to engage Lobo fans with the current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuohy, who played from 2004-07 was one of the best in Lobo history at getting after the quarterback.  Tuohy tied a school record four sacks in a 34-28 win over New Mexico State in Las Cruces.  He earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in that game.  Overall his 20.5 sacks is fifth all-time at UNM in career history.  His 38.0 tackles for loss is also sixth in career Lobo history.

Tuohy was a freshman All-America selection in 2004 and tied for the 2007 Colonel H.J. Golightly Defensive MVP with O.J. Swift.
