ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is headed Sacramento, Calif. to the Gunrock Invitational hosted by UC Davis on Monday, Mar. 2 through Tuesday, Mar. 3. The Invitational will take place on the par-72, 5,950-yard course at the Del Paso Country Club with a shotgun start at 9:30 p.m. MT.

The Lobos will face a field of 13 teams including four which they have previously competed against: California, Nevada, UC Davis and UC Irvine. In addition, No. 8 Stanford (only individuals), University of British Columbia (UBC), Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, South Dakota, UC Riverside and Wisconsin will be in attendance.
The Lobos and Cal saw each other at the Cougar Cup in September, in UNM’s second tournament of the season. The Bears finished eighth, just five strokes ahead of the Lobos.
This marks the third time this season UNM has competed against fellow Mountain West squad Nevada including at the 2019 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in which the Wolf Pack finished eighth, just three strokes ahead of the Lobos in ninth. UC Davis also competed at the McGuire, finishing 10th four strokes behind the Lobos.
The Lobos are coming off of the Rebel Beach Invitational in which they finished third to mark their best finish of the season, 10 strokes ahead of Nevada which finished eighth. UC Irvine also competed in Las Vegas, finishing 10th.
A pair of Lobos placed in the top-10 at the Rebel Beach Invitational. Sophomore Kamie Hamada tied for seventh with a low-round of 71 and final score of 215 (-1) along with freshman Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana who finished ninth overall with a final score of 216 (E).
The teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. PT/9:30 a.m. MT on Monday with a shotgun start for the first round, round two will begin immediately following the completion of round one. Round three is set to begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. PT/9:30 a.m. MT with a shotgun start.
