ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After snapping its three-game loss streak on Saturday with a 29-point victory over Wyoming, The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to head back on the road to take on No. 4 San Diego State in San Diego Tuesday night. The Lobos and the Aztecs are set to rematch at 8 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. MT on ESPN2.
The Lobos (17-8, 6-6 MW) returned a pair of starters to the lineup on Saturday in redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle and redshirt-junior Vance Jackson. The UNM squad will take on the last undefeated team in the nation in the Aztecs (24-0, 13-0 MW) for the second time in the last four games.
The last time the two teams met, SDSU handed the Lobos their first and only loss of the season at home inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit, blemishing the Lobos’ perfect 13-0 home record. Both teams have had a short turnaround for this contest as both the Lobos and the Aztecs played on Saturday.
UNM looks to carry over its momentum from Saturday night in which three players racked up 20+ points including senior Corey Manigault with a career-high 28 points. He was joined by redshirt-junior Zane Martin with a UNM career-tying 23 points and redshirt-junior Vance Jackson who racked up 20 points despite missing the last five games due to injury.
The Lobos are led by four active players scoring in double figures in conference play including Lyle (17.1), Manigault (15.5), Jackson (13.4) and Martin (12.9).
SDSU is led by just three players in double digits in MW play including junior Malachi Flynn (17.5), junior Matt Mitchell (13.8) and senior Yanni Wetzell (11.4).
