Football To Host Walkon Tryouts Thursday, Sept. 5
The University of New Mexico football team will host its annual walk-on tryout for UNM students interested in joining the football program on Thursday September 5 after that morning’s practice. Registration will take place outside the Tow Diehm Athletic Facility at 10:30 a.m. To be eligible to tryout for the team, individuals must be enrolled full-time at UNM attempting at least 12 credit hours or more in the Fall 2019 semester.
Student-athletes that are walk-ons are eligible to be named “The New Mexico Man” by the staff, earning the right to lead UNM on the field and carry the state flag.
Walk-on tryouts have proven to be helpful for the program, as Steven Steele was a two-time letterwinner (2016-17) after winning a spot on the team after a walk-on tryout, and Dorsett Valdez also lettered in 2017.

Potential student-athletes must have played high school football to tryout.
For the tryout, please bring with you proof of a completed physical (physical within the last calendar year) and proof of medical insurance. Waivers will be signed upon arrival. PHYSICAL MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO TRYOUT. All of the above information must be completed to be eligible for the tryout.
