Among the Mountain West teams competing, UNM took home first place last season at the 2019 Mountain West Championships while San Diego State finished fifth, Boise State finished sixth and Nevada landed in eighth. The Lobos shot an outstanding 33 under, 831 at the competition with the help of current junior Galven Green and former Lobo Sean Carlon. Both players finished the competition tied for first at 203 (-13) before heading to a three-hole, sudden-death playoff. It was Green who clinched the individual title with a five-foot putt to seal the deal.

Boise State’s current sophomore Cameron Barzekoff finished just one stroke behind the UNM duo at the conference championship as his total of 12 under, 204 landed him in third overall.

The 2019-20 UNM men’s golf roster will return nine players from last season including three upperclassmen and six underclassmen. Among the upperclassmen is the squad’s sole senior Sam Dickey, Green (a junior), and redshirt-junior Ross Sinclair. The returning sophomore class includes Jack Anderson, Ignacio Arcaya, Roy Choi, Sam Choi, and redshirt-sophomores Brad Cole and Slater Sivage.

There will also be two new faces on the squad, freshmen Albert Boneta and Dylan Fritz. Boneta joins the Lobos out of Barcelona, Spain while Fritz is a Las Vegas, Nev. native.

Following the Husky Invitational, the Lobos will return home to host the annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 27-28 at the UNM Championship Course. The squad will then hit the road for three more fall tournaments including the Maridoe Intercollegiate hosted by North Texas on Oct. 6-8, the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate hosted by Baylor on Oct. 21-22, and the St. Mary’s Invitational hosted by Saint Mary’s on Nov. 4-6 before commencing with the spring season in Arizona in January.

The 2020 Mountain West Men’s Golf Championships are set to take place May 1-3 at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

Rounds one and two of the Husky Invitational are set to take place on Monday, Sept. 16 while round three will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
