Lobos to Host Women's Walkthrough October 3
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball program is set to host its first “Women’s Walkthrough” on Thursday, October 3 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The event promises to be an exciting opportunity for women to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at Lobo basketball.
Participants will enjoy touring UNM’s men’s basketball facilities that will include the locker room, film room, weight room, coaches offices, suite level and more. There will also be interactive experiences with coaches, players and others that work in and around Lobo basketball to give inside access to what goes into the program, as well as food and drinks provided.
Cost for the event will be $60 per person and 6th Man members in attendance will enjoy an exclusive Overtime segment with head coach Paul Weir following the conclusion of the event! UNM students, faculty and staff will enjoy a rate of $30 for admission into the event.
“We were thinking of something new and creative to open our season this year.” Weir said. “In the past we have done traditional banquets and similar kick-off events, but the idea of reaching out to a brand new population, our community’s women, and inviting them into our world seemed perfect. I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet new people and to interact with a different demographic than we are accustomed to.
“It should be an amazing learning experience not only for the attendees but for all of the members of our program as well.”
For Lobo fans that have ever wondered “Why are they doing that?” – this is the opportunity to learn exactly what goes on before, during and after games, during practices, in the coaches meetings, and much more.
“This will not be a typical event. We are excited to make something fun and fascinating for the women who want to understand more about Lobo basketball, while ensuring that this experience will have something meaningful for everyone,” Weir said.
The event will include food, drinks, prize giveaways, photograph and autograph opportunities, and more.

Tickets are $60 per person/$30 for UNM students, faculty and staff, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and activity kicking off at 5:30 p.m. UNM students, faculty and staff will be asked to present valid UNM I.D. upon arrival.
