ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team looks to take its late-season momentum on the road on Saturday at Wyoming to close the regular season and enter into the 2019 Mountain West Championships on a three-game win streak. The Lobos and the Cowboys are scheduled to tip at 4:02 p.m. on ESPN3.

Heading into Saturday’s game, the Lobos (13-16, 7-10 MW) are locked into either the 6th, 7th or 8th seed in the Mountain West Championships. Results across the league on Saturday will determine final seeding.

UNM is coming into Saturday’s game after claiming two straight victories over Colorado State and Boise State at home. In Wednesday’s Boise State win, senior Dane Kuiper grabbed a steal with less than a second left on the clock to seal the victory for UNM on Senior Night.

Wyoming (7-23, 3-14 MW) snapped a six-game losing streak with an 81-71 win on Wednesday over San José State.

Senior Anthony Mathis enters Wednesday’s game with 100 threes this season, just three 3-pointers short of breaking the all-time UNM record for most threes in a single season. The current record of 102 was set in the 1998-99 season.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos lead the series with the Cowboys 72-67, but are just 24-41 on the road in Laramie.

UNM is riding a four-game win streak over Wyoming in series history. The last time UNM traveled to Laramie, the Lobos earned a 119-114 victory marking the most points scored by an opponent in the Cowboys’ home arena. In addition, the 119 points broke the UNM record for most points scored in a conference game.

The last time the two teams met, UNM claimed a 30-point victory, 83-53, in Albuquerque on Jan. 19.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 32-31 in his second season with the Lobos, 60-37 in his third season as a head coach. Wyoming head coach Allen Edwards is 50-51 in his third season at the helm of the Cowboys and in his career.
