Lobos back in WNIT; host Denver on Thursday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On the heels of a second-straight 20-plus win regular season, the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team has once more been selected to participate in the postseason WNIT and will also host the opening round. The Lobos (24-6) will be taking on the University of Denver inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m..
 IMPORTANT TICKET INFORMATION
– Tickets for the game will go on sale online, over the phone, and in person on Tuesday, March 19 at Noon**
– Ticket prices will be $10 for adults, $4 for UNM students and youth (ages 3-18), and free for children ages 2 and under
** – Season Ticket Holders will have their seats protected until Wednesday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m. At which time, the seats will be released for the general public to purchase. Season Ticket Holders must also claim their seats either in person at the Dreamstyle Arena Ticket office or on the phone 925-LOBO.

 
For the Lobos, this will be the program’s 17th postseason appearance and their seventh in the WNIT. Last season, the Lobos advanced to the third round of the WNIT with wins against Saint Mary’s and Rice before being upended by TCU. Overall, the Lobos are 12-6 in the WNIT and went as far as the championship game in 2001.
 
The return trip to the WNIT marks the eighth time as a head coach that Mike Bradbury has guided a team to the postseason. It will be the fourth WNIT appearance for a Bradbury-led team and the fourth time in five years that he has done so.
 
The Lobos and Pioneers have met only once before with the game taking place in Albuquerque on December 6, 1996. That game was a 55-38 win for the Lobos. The Pioneers are members of the Summit League and finished in a tie for third place the regular season standings after going 10-6 in league play. Overall, the Pioneers have a 17-13 record.
 
The two teams shared a handful of common opponents with the likes of Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico State and Wyoming appearing on both schedules. The Lobos went a combined 7-0 against those common foes while Denver went 1-3.
