ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is off on its second straight road trip as it travels to San José State for a Tuesday night matchup at 7 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. MT. The Lobos are looking for a series sweep after posting a 32-point victory over the Spartans in Albuquerque on Feb. 13.

UNM (11-15, 5-9 MW) enters the game coming off of a bye week and a pair of losses to then-tied for second in the league Fresno State and Utah State. The Lobos’ last win was when they met the Spartans just three games ago.

SJSU (3-23, 0-14 MW) comes into the contest off of an 82-68 loss at Air Force on Saturday.

After collecting four 3-pointers in UNM’s last contest vs Utah State on Wednesday, senior Anthony Mathis, ranked seventh in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (3.65), is currently riding a 19-game streak with at least one three, tying his season-best streak from last year and ranking tied for seventh in program history. He also posts 95 3-pointers so far on the season, just seven away from breaking the UNM program record of 102 set in 1998-99.

SERIES HISTORY
UNM leads the all-time series 14-1 including a perfect 5-0 record on the road in San Jose.

Last time the two teams met was in Albuquerque on Feb. 13 when the Lobos came away with a 92-60 victory. The 32 points marked New Mexico’s largest victory margin over an NCAA DI opponent this season.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 30-30 in his second season with the Lobos, 58-36 in his third season as a head coach. SJSU head coach Jean Prioleau is 3-23 in his second season at the helm of the Spartans and in his career.
