UNM Women Ranked Fifth by USTFCCCA

USTFCCCA RELEASE | TEAM SUMMARY

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—  Ahead of the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships this week, The University of New Mexico women’s team has been ranked fifth by the USTFCCCA and the Track and Field National Rating Index.

The rating sets a new program best for the Lobos, earning a spot in the top-5 for the first time in school history.

UNM earned 88.11 points to move up two spots from last week’s ranking and are 4.62 points ahead of No. 6 Kentucky.

Also in the top-10 of the rankings was Mountain West school Boise State, coming in at nine with 66.58 points.

In addition, the women maintained their top rankings in the mile, 3000-meter and 5000-meter in the USTFCCCA #eventsquad rankings.

The women are led by sophomore Weini Kelati, who has set two separate school records this season and has been named MW Track Athlete of the Week twice.

The track and field team resumes competition this Thursday when it hosts the Mountain West Track and Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
