Women's Golf Back in Action at the Rebel Beach Invite

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is gearing up to begin its spring season on Monday, February 18 through Tuesday, February 19 at the Rebel Beach Invitational hosted by UNLV and Long Beach State. The tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,355-yard course at the Spanish Trail Country Club located in Las Vegas, Nev.

Fans will be able to follow the action via LIVE STATS.

The tournament’s field consists of 16 strong competitors including six Mountain West teams: UNM, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, UNLV and San José State. The rest of the field includes Arizona, BYU, Charlotte, Colorado, Long Beach State, Northern Arizona, UC Irvine, Oregon, Virginia and in-state rival New Mexico State.

The Lobos will face the top four teams in the Mountain West at the tournament which consist of SJSU, Colorado State, UNLV and Fresno State. San José State leads the league on the leaderboard in average team score with a 288.25 over 12 rounds and is the only MW team averaging in the 280s. Colorado State is in second with an average of 292.08 followed by UNLV in third, averaging 294.08. Fresno State sits in fourth with a 295.50 average while UNM is currently eighth with an average team score of 301.08 in its 12 rounds.

Senior Darian Zachek is the highest-ranking Lobo individually in the Mountain West as she is 25th in the league with a 12-round average of 74.42, just 3.59 strokes away from the league leader, San José State’s senior Abegail Arevalo who is averaging 70.83. Senior Emma Edwards is second for UNM on the leaderboard as her average of 75.42 over 12 rounds is good for 33rd overall.

The first two rounds of the Rebel Beach Invitational are set to tee off on Monday at 9:00 a.m. MT with a shotgun start followed by round three on Tuesday.
