Maly earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team honors

AUSTIN, Texas – University of New Mexico women’s soccer redshirt junior Gwen Maly has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team as it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Maly, who recently received her second-straight CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team honor, becomes the fourth women’s soccer player all-time to earn Academic All-America® status joining former Lobos, Erchen Theys (2002, 2nd Team), Alexis Ball (2009, 3rd Team) and Brooke Ellison (2013, 2nd Team). Additionally, Maly is the 116th overall Lobo recipient all-time and the 89th since 2000.
 
A native of Lake Forest, Calif., Maly currently has a 4.187 cumulative G.P.A (4.0 on a 4.0 scale) and is a double major in Biology and Psychology.
 
On the pitch, Maly also earned her second All-MW honor after another solid season offensively for the Lobos. In her junior season, Maly scored six goals to tie for second on the team in that category. Maly has also played in all 20 games and made 15 starts for the Lobos while logging a total of 1,315 minutes of action.
