ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team (10-2) will take on Grand Canyon (4-8) on Tuesday night inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit at 7 p.m. The Lobos will look to improve upon their five-win streak and increase their home streak to 8-0 with a victory.

UNM has a quick turnaround for Tuesday’s contest, coming off of a series sweep over in-state rival NM State on Saturday. GCU is 2-3 in its last five contests that include losses to Liberty on Sunday and Northern Iowa on Thursday.

The Lobos are among just 17 teams in the nation to reach 10 wins so far this season. Of those 17 squads, six are ranked in the top 15 in the NCAA NET rankings. The list of 10+ win teams also includes a pair of Mountain West foes in Utah State and San Diego State. UNM is currently ranked 57th in the NCAA NET rankings (GCU is 249th).

UNM looks to continue its best start since the 2012-13 season with its 10-2 record. That season’s squad started the season 12-0 and eventually reached 13-2. In addition, UNM looks to continue its undefeated December as the Lobos have gone a perfect 5-0 in Santa’s favorite month. Last time UNM started December 5-0 was in 2014-15. With a win on Tuesday, the Lobos would improve to 6-0 in December, which UNM has not done since the 2011-12 season.
