COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fresh off of Saturday’s Rio Grande Rivalry sweep, redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg Jr. of The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team has been named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The honor marks the third weekly honor for the Lobos this season as UNM has collected half of the league’s weekly honors so far this season. Monday’s honor marks the first for Bragg in his career as a Lobo.

Bragg led New Mexico to the Lobos’ sweep over in-state rival NM State Saturday marking the first sweep over the Aggies since 2015, on his birthday. He posted his third double-double in the last four games with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
The senior shot 80 percent from the floor (4-5) and 90 percent from the free throw line (9-10). His 9-for-10 from the stripe helped the Lobos to their highest free throw shooting percentage on the season (82.1 percent).
In addition, Bragg added four steals, one assist and one block on Saturday evening in his 34 minutes. As part of his outstanding performance, he slammed back-to-back dunks four minutes into the second half on the back end of a 17-4 run that Put the Lobos ahead by seven after trailing at the break, causing the Aggies to call a timeout.

On the season, Bragg is averaging a double-double with 13.0 points and 10.6 rebounds. He has collected 18 blocks and 15 steals and ranks sixth in the nation in total rebounds (127) and 18th in the country in rebounds per game (10.6).
Bragg and the rest of the Lobos have a quick turnaround as they head into their next contest. The Lobos return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 17 when they host Grand Canyon inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit at 7 p.m.
