ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will take on Big West member CSUN for the first time in Albuquerque since 2008 on Saturday, Nov. 9. The teams will tip off at 7 p.m. inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.

Last season, UNM stole the win on the road in Northridge with a buzzer-beating three to open the Lobos’ 2018-19 season.

The Lobos enter the game coming off of a 21-point victory over Eastern NM on Wednesday night in the 2019-20 season opener in which five Lobos racked up double figures including junior Makuach Maluach (16), redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg Jr. (13), redshirt-junior Zane Martin (13), senior Corey Manigault (13) and redshirt-junior Keith McGee (12).

Redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle also had an impressive outing with nine points and 11 assists, nearly posting the first Lobo point-assist double-double since Feb. 10, 2018.

CSUN competed on Tuesday night in Oregon, falling by 20 points to Oregon State (87-67). The Matadors were led by junior Terrell Gomez who posted 19 points along with a pair of other players to finish in double figures. Both CSUN and UNM were picked to finish third in their league by the conference’s media members.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos lead CSUN 6-0 in the series history including a 4-0 mark at home inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.
The last two contests between the Lobos and the Matadors were both in California. The teams have not met in Albuquerque since Nov. 24, 2008.

Head coach Paul Weir is 34-33 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 62-39 in his fourth season as a head coach. CSUN head coach Mark Gottfried is 13-22 in just his second season with the Matadors. He is 415-262 in his career.
