A native of Mill Creek, Wash., Edwards was offensively unrelenting as she posted two of her career-high three goals in the first half alone. Her third goal, completing the hat trick, came just three minutes into the second half. Edwards also provided an assist to junior Leilani Baker in 66th minute for the fifth Lobo goal of the night.

Edwards finished the night with seven points which is the most points in a game for a Lobo since 2010. Additionally, Edwards’ hat trick is the first in the Mountain West since 2017, and the first at UNM since 2014. The six goals against San Diego State serve as the most goals scored in a match for the Lobos since posting a 6-2 win over Illinois St. on August 30, 2009.

The Mountain West Player of the Week award is Edwards’ first conference nod of her career.

The Lobo shutout against San Diego State clinched a berth into the Mountain West Conference Championship Tournament as the No. 4 Seed. Edwards and the rest of the UNM women’s soccer team look to keep their championship aspirations alive as they take on the No. 5 seed San Jose State in the first round of the championship on Tuesday, November 5 at 2 p.m.
