ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will finish its four-game homestand on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. with a 2019 Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper contest against McNeese State. UNM looks to start the season a perfect 4-0 at home before heading off on the road.

The Lobos have won their last three contests by double figures and have scored 90+ points in each contest. Redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle racked up a career-high 31 points on Wednesday night against Green Bay while redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg registered his first double-double of the season.

UNM is led by five players averaging scoring in double figures including Lyle (19.3), redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg Jr. (13.7), senior Corey Manigault (13.0), junior Makuach Maluach (12.3) and redshirt-junior Zane Martin (11.7). Bragg also leads the Lobos in rebounding with 8.7 per game, followed by Lyle with 4.3. 

McNeese State enters Saturday’s game coming off of a tough loss to Legends Classic opponent Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Cowboys fell on the road by a score of 83-63.

McNeese State has three players averaging double figures including junior Dru Kuxhaussen (15.0), senior Sha’Markus Kennedy (14.8) and junior A.J. Lawson (14.3). The Cowboys have three players snagging more than 4.5 rebounds per game including Kennedy (9.0), junior Chris Orlina (6.5) and senior Roydell Brown (4.8).

NIKE N7- BRING ON THE TURQUOISE!
Saturday’s game will mark the Lobos’ annual Nike N7 game in which the Lobos will wear Turquoise in support of American Indian Heritage Month in November. Turquoise is also the official alternate color of the Lobos.

The Lobos are proud to continue their partnership with Nike N7 as part of a celebration and recognition of American Indian Heritage Month. Nike N7 is a longtime commitment and mission to inspire and enable two million Native American and Aboriginal youth in North America to participate in sport and physical activity.

Special events that will take place in Saturday’s game include a Turquoise jersey auction that will benefit the NB3 Foundation and UNM American Indian Student Services. 

This year’s jersey auction will be IN PERSON ONLY during the game.

TICKETS, GET YOUR TICKETS – POSTGAME
Fans have been eagerly awaiting their opportunity to get tickets to UNM’s much-anticipated clash with NM State in The Pit on Dec. 14. Saturday’s game will mark fans’ FIRST opportunity to purchase single-game tickets for the matchup at the Dreamstyle Arena Ticket Office.

Tickets will be sold exclusively in person to fans after Saturday’s game and will follow for sale online on Sunday.

LEGEND IN ATTENDANCE
Saturday’s Legend in attendance will be former Lobo Michael Cooper! Cooper, who was drafted by the Lakers in the third round of the NBA after finishing his stint with the Lobos in 1978, is one of UNM’s All-Americans (1978).  He is one of New Mexico’s all-time greats as he registered 905 points (15.6 ppg) in 1,787 minutes during just two seasons as a Lobo.

SERIES HISTORY
New Mexico and McNeese State have met just once in program history, a 90-46 New Mexico victory at home on Dec. 21, 1998. The then No. 11-ranked UNM squad had Lamont Long and Kenny Thomas who scored 28 and 22 points, respectively.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 36-33 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 64-39 in his fourth season as a head coach. McNeese State head coach Heath Schroyer is 10-25 in his second season with the Cowboys. He is 136-169 in his career.
