Women’s soccer signs eight new players for 2020
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team has added eight players to their 2020 roster as head coach Heather Dyche unveiled the program’s 2020 signing class on Wednesday.
“Every year we try to find players that will add to our Lobo family. Our team prides itself on our culture and our soccer, so we need players who can contribute to both,” remarked Coach Dyche. “This year’s class could be a special one. They have already shown such excitement to become Lobos and have really bonded as a group. We are thrilled to get them here and get going.”
Of the eight signees, three hail from right here in the Duke City as the Lobos were able to haul in a trio of Volcano Vista High School standouts in Dalis Bruce, Natalia Bruciaga and Arianna Cisneros. The trifecta of former Hawks were instrumental in guiding Volcano Vista to the New Mexico Class 5A State Championship back on November 8.
In addition to the three local signees, the Lobos went West to secure their other five commits. Gabrielle Cameron (Norco, Calif.) and Kennedy Hackbarth (Riverside, Calif.) are coming from SoCal. From the Pacific Northwest, the Lobos hauled in Natalie DeGagne (Seattle, Wash.) and Paige Satterlee (Bellevue, Wash.), and from our neighbors to the West, the Lobos signed Tionna Taylor (Chandler, Ariz.).
Positionally, the Lobos signed three midfielders in Bruce, Cisneros, and DeGagne. On the defensive backline, the Lobos provide themselves with depth thanks to the additions of Cameron, Hackbarth and Satterlee. Hackbarth could also fit in the team at forward, joining Bruciaga up top. In goal, the Lobos added some youth to their experience-laiden position with the addition of Taylor.
The Lobos recently completed the 2019 season finishing 11-8-1 overall and advancing to the Mountain West Tournament Semifinals for the third-consecutive year. The 11 wins also gave the Lobos double-digit wins for the fourth time in five years under the guide of Coach Dyche.
