Lobo women’s basketball signs two for 2020

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico Women’s Basketball team officially added a pair of players for the 2020-21 season as head coach Mike Bradbury announced the signings of Chasity Selden and Nevaeh Parkinson on Wednesday.
 
“We’re all very excited to add Chasity and Nevaeh to our team. Both Chasity and Nevaeh are skilled players that fit our style of play,” remarked Bradbury. “Each year we have brought in talented freshman that have pushed our program to greater heights…this year is no different.”
 
Chasity Selden
5-7 | PG | Eagle River, Alaska | Chugiak HS | Alaska Stars
 
Selden, a 5-7 point guard, joins the Lobos from the state of Alaska where she played prep basketball at Chugiak HS in Eagle River, Alaska. While at Chugiak HS, Selden averaged 23.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game and 4.5 steals per game. Selden also earned first team all-state, first team all-region and all-tournament team honors throughout her time with Chugiak.
 
On the AAU circuit, Selden played for the Alaska Stars and Tru Game. As a member of the Alaska Stars, Selden was teammates with current UNM freshman Azaria Robinson. Selden also helped her AAU teams win four tournament championships.

Nevaeh Parkinson
6-3 | C | McKinney, Texas | John Paul II HS | DFW Elite
 
A 6-3 center, Parkinson comes to UNM from McKinney, Texas where she is finishing her career at John Paul II HS after transferring last season from Parish Episcopal. In her final season at Parish Episcopal, Parkinson helped lead her team to a state title in 2017-18.
 
In her prep career, Parkinson averages 18.3 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and 1.4 blocks per game. She has also twice been named first team all-district, first team all-state and first team all-tournament. Additionally, Parkinson has been lauded as the Defensive Player of the Year.
 
In addition to her high school career, Parkinson has also played club and AAU basketball for DFW Elite, Sophia Young Elite and for BlueStar Dallas.
