ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The undefeated University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to take on the Green Bay Phoenix on Wednesday, Nov. 13 inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit at 7 p.m. The game marks the first of four games as part of the 2019 Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper. The tournament will culminate with a pair of contests in Brooklyn, N.Y. Nov. 25 and 26.

UNM enters the contest 2-0 after downing CSUN by 27 points (97-70) on Saturday night. For the second straight game, UNM had five scorers rack up double figures including redshirt-senior JaQuan Lyle (18), redshirt-senior Carlton Bragg Jr. (17), senior Corey Manigault (17), redshirt-junior Zane Martin (13) and redshirt-junior Keith McGee (10).

Through the first two games of the season, the Lobos are starting to emerge at the top of some national charts. UNM currently ranks tied for second in field goal percentage (60.0 percent) with Gonzaga and Houston while also ranking seventh in assists per game (22.0). The Lobos also rank 17th in the nation in scoring offense (94.5) and 23rd in total assists (44). Individually, Lyle ranks sixth in assists per game (8.0) and 12th in the country in total assists (16).

Green Bay enters Wednesday’s contest 1-1 after falling to Purdue (79-57) before topping Wisconsin-Stout 115-64. The team registered its highest point total in its NCAA Division I history. Phoenix freshman Amari Davis was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week for his efforts that included going 12-for-18 from the field on the week with three steals. In Green Bay’s last contest, seven players registered double figures. 

SERIES HISTORY
New Mexico and Green Bay have not yet met in series history. Wednesday will mark the squads’ first meeting.

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 35-33 in his third year at the helm of the Lobos, 63-39 in his fourth season as a head coach. Green Bay head coach Linc Darner is 76-65 in his fifth season with the Phoenix. He is 367-181 in his career.
