Lobos Hold Fourth Through Two Rounds in California
MONTEREY, CALIF.— The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished round two on the Saint Mary’s Intercollegiate hosted by Saint Mary’s in fourth place on Tuesday. Junior Galven Green chopped eight strokes off of his first-round score to end the day tied for 14th at two under, 140.

Green registered an outstanding five under, 66 in round two after shooting a two over, 74 in round one. He recorded four birdies on the day and became the second Lobo to record an eagle at the tournament, happening on his ninth hole, hole #18. Green is leading the team in pars as his total of 25 is just four short of the tournament leader (29).
Sophomore Sam Choi is also tied for 14th at 140 (-2) after 36 holes after shooting scores of 69 (-2) and 70 (E) in the first two rounds, respectively. Choi is leading the team in par-4 scoring as his average of 3.94 (-1) is tied for fourth overall.
Sophomore Ignacio Arcaya and redshirt-junior Ross Sinclair follow by just one stroke as they are tied for 24th at one under, 141. Arcaya shot a two under, 69 in the round following a one over, 72 in round one while Sinclair registered scores of 69 (-2) and 72 (+1) in each round, respectively. Arcaya’s second-round score was earned with the help of an outstanding six birdies, adding to his two-round total of nine which is just three less than the tournament leader (12).
Freshman Albert Boneta finished round two tied for 39th after shooting a four over, 75 on the day to bring his combined total to a two over, 144. Boneta had a standout first round on Monday as shot a two under, 69 with the help of a hole-in-one eagle on his 15th hole, hole #6.
New Mexico’s individual senior Sam Dickey shot a second-round score of 76 (+5) to finish the day tied for 52nd at four over, 146. Dickey is leading the squad in par-3 scoring as his average of 2.70 (-4) is tied for second overall.
As a team, UNM shot a score of six under, 278 in the round to improve their first-round score by one stroke (279, -5) and bring their two-round total to 11 under, 557. The squad is sitting second in both par-3 and par-5 scoring with averages of 3.04 (+2) and 4.58 (-17) in each category, respectively, and its 115 pars is just three behind the tournament leader (118) .The Lobos finished the day just three strokes behind third-place BYU (554, -14) and four strokes behind second-place Arizona (553, -15).
Leading the tournament after 36 holes is Colorado State which holds a score of 21 under, 547. Individually, Coastal Carolina’s Seth Taylor occupies the first-place spot as he holds a two-round total of nine under, 133.
The third and final round of the Saint Mary’s invitational will tee off on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
