ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s one of the reasons that college football is great.  Homecoming.  For the Lobos, the 95th edition of Homecoming comes this Saturday as the Lobos host the University of Hawai’i at 2 p.m. at Dreamstyle Stadium on what is shaping up as a perfect day for football with a sunny day and 67 degree temperature expected.

The Lobos are trying to end a four-game losing streak and pick up their first conference win of the season, while Hawai’i enters at 4-3 after dropping a 56-26 decision to Air Force on the islands.  The Lobos will be going with Tevaka Tuioti at quarterback after leading the team to its only touchdown on Saturday against Wyoming.  In that contest, the Lobos had 10 drives, and the final eight drives all got to midfield or ended inside of Wyoming territory, but they netted just 10 points.

Hawai’i brings from the islands a high flying offense that averages nearly 500 yards a game in total offense.  Quarterback Cole McDonald has led Hawai’i to 24 touchdowns through the air and a pair of wins over Pac-12 programs.

There’s plenty of things going on for Homecoming, both at the University and at south campus.  New Mexico has five home events in three days with women’s soccer at home on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, volleyball Saturday morning, women’s basketball Sunday afternoon and of course, Lobo Football at 2 on Saturday.  For a full rundown of all of the events associated with Homecoming, visit the UNM Alumni Homecoming page.

There are several large tailgates that will be highlighting the free Howl Zone areas, including the College Enrichment Program’s 50th Anniversary Tailgate and the Alumni Association’s Homecoming Tailgate.  The campus week kicked off with a S’mores roast at University House hosted by UNM President Dr. Garnett Stokes.
