The field for this year’s Tucker is made up of 15 teams including four Mountain West opponents. The Mountain West squads competing include New Mexico, UNLV, San Diego State and Wyoming while the non-conference competitors include Arizona, BYU, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, Florida Atlantic, Kansas, Loyola Marymount, in-state rival New Mexico State, North Texas, Utah and UTEP.

BYU returns to the Tucker after taking home back-to-back first-place finishes at the competition in 2017 and 2018. The Cougars finished the 2018 contest with a score of 848 (-16), just two strokes ahead of UNLV which finished in second. The Lobos shot a team score of one under, 863 last year as they landed in fifth out of the 17-team field.

Colorado enters the tournament coming off of a first-place finish at the the Air Force Falcon Invitational on Sept. 7-9 to begin the season. Arizona and Kansas also had strong starts to their seasons as each squad carded second-place finishes in their season openers, Arizona at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate Sept. 13-15 and Kansas at the Badger Invitational Sept. 8-10.

The Lobos enter the tournament following a 10th-place finish at the Husky Invitational in Washington which was cut short due to inclement weather during the third round. Due to the third-round cancellation, results after the second round served as the final results of the competition. Freshman Albert Boneta led the squad in his Lobo debut as he finished with a two-round total of 144 (E) to tie for 19th overall.

Sophomore Sam Choi also had a notable outing as he finished just one stroke behind, landing in a tie for 24th with a score of 145 (+1). As a team, the Lobos led the tournament in eagles as redshirt-junior Ross Sinclair and junior Galven Green each carded one in round one while Boneta sealed round two with an eagle on his final hole.

Round one of the 2019 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate will begin on Friday at 7:45 a.m. with a shotgun start and will lead directly into round two. The third and final round will take place on Saturday at 7:45 a.m. Fans are encouraged to come out to the UNM Championship Course to support their Lobos!
