Lobos Open Brutus Hamilton Invitational with Two Top-Three Finishers

BERKELEY, Calif.— Bailey Brion placed second in the open 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.11, the highest finisher of the seven entries for The University of New Mexico track and field team on the first day of the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Friday. MacKenzie Everett ran 2:22.22 in the 800-meter run to finish third in the event, giving UNM two, top-three finishers on the day.

The Lobos had three in the top-five after Mariah Gordon ran 1:03.26 in the 400-meter dash to take fourth to highlight the track events on Goldman Field at Edwards Stadium.

Camillo Dünninger was the lone field event entry on the day, competing in his first of four events on the weekend on Friday in the discus. The sophomore threw 126-00 (38.40m) on his second attempt to place seventh in the event.

The Lobos conclude the invitational on Saturday with the first event scheduled for 11 a.m. MT with women’s long jump, women’s pole vault and women’s high jump. Live results can be found HERE
