UNM Divers Conclude Season at NCAA Zone Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—  The University of New Mexico divers Natasha Dark and Jocelyn Gallais concluded their 2018-19 campaign with a final showing at the NCAA Zone E Championship held on the campus of Northern Arizona over the last three days.

Partaking in the three-day meet, Dark competed in all three events while Gallais took to the springboard in the 1-meter as well as the platform.

Dark finished with a score of 245.25 in the 3-meter on the opening day of competition to place 31st overall and a 24th-place showing in the 1-meter preliminary round after earning 244.20 for her six dives. In the platform, the junior scored 168.05 points for 36th.

Comparing Dark’s last season results at the zone championship to this year, the junior improved her score and placement in both events after scoring 235.40 points in the 3-meter and 235.15 in the 1-meter just one year ago.

In her first collegiate postseason diving competition, Gallais finished with a total of 220.85 points in the 1-meter preliminaries to place 41st overall and closed with a strong performance in the platform, coming in 20th on a score of 194.95.

Both divers return to the Lobos next year, with the diving squad losing just one diver to graduation in Allyson Concepcion.
