ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Heading in to the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, The University of New Mexico women’s track and field team is ranked fifth by the USTFCCCA Track and Field Rating Index released on Monday.
Taking into account the finalists that have qualified for the NCAA, the Lobos collected 86.96 points to hold fifth in the rankings.
UNM held a 10.06-point advantage over No. 6 Florida and trailed No. 4 Ohio State by 3.09 points.

Representing the Lobos in Birmingham, Ala. will be Weini Kelati, Ednah Kurgat and Charlotte Prouse in the 3000-meter and 5000-meter, with Kelati and Kurgat holding some of the top times in the events.
Kurgat (15:14.78) and Kelati (15:15.24) rank first and second, respectively, in the 5000-meter heading into Friday’s race. Kelati ranks third in the 3000-meter at 8:53.98, a school record, with Kurgat ninth in the event (8:59.78).
Prouse is sixth in the 5000 at 15:26.01 and 10th in the 3000 (9:00.00).
The women’s 5000-meter race will be on Friday at 8:47 p.m. ET/ 6:47 p.m. MT and the 3000-meter race on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. ET/ 4:10 p.m. MT. ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time March 8 and starting at 5 p.m. Eastern time March 9.
