Team of Twitty and Rosado Wins as UNM Falls 4-1 to GCU
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The team of Lauren Twitty and Dali Rosado were victorious on the no. 1 court against No. 16 Grand Canyon to provide the lone win for The University of New Mexico beach volleyball team in their season opener.
The Lobos fell to the Lopes 4-1 on Friday afternoon to fall to 0-1 on the season.
Twitty and Rosado won in two sets, 23-12 and 21-15 against GCU’s no. 1 duo of Hannah Towne and Anaya Evans.
On court two, Yasmin Tan and Makayla Tam fell in three sets to Madi Relaz and Mikaela Raudsepp by scores of 21-10, 18-21, 15-6.
The third team of Emily Nenninger and Jaclyn Inclan lost to Jessica Stansfield and Bella Bauman in straight sets by identical scores of 21-8.
Joey Benson and Carly Beddingfield also lost in two, 21-15 and 21-16 on court four, and Claire Nenninger and Abbey Willison fell in a close first set 28-26 before losing 21-6 in the second set on court five.
UNM has two matches scheduled for tomorrow against Loyola Marymount (10:30 a.m.) and Arizona State (2:30 p.m.).
