USTFCCCA RELEASE

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—  Ednah Kurgat has been named to the Women’s Mid-Indoor Watch List for The Bowerman as announced by the USTFCCCA and The Bowerman Watch List Committee on Wednesday afternoon.

Kurgat was also named to the Preseason Watch List for The Bowerman, the highest honor for collegiate track and field, earlier this year.

In her only race this season, the junior posted the top time in the 5,000-meter with 15:14.78 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 1. The time registered as the third-fastest time in NCAA history in the event and currently still holds as the top time in the NCAA this season. Her time also broke her own school and Mountain West indoor record in the event.

However, she will be making her second appearance this weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle, competing in the 3,000-meter run on Friday afternoon.

Per The Bowerman release, 18 women were recognized by the committee, with 10 of those earning enough votes to be selected for the Watch List, including Kurgat.

This season, Kurgat was selected as the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Dec. 4 by the USTFCCCA and the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week on Dec. 11.

The next Watch List will be released on Feb. 27.
