ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team posted a 3.74 grade point average for the Fall 2018 semester, the highest combined semester GPA in the program’s history, dating back to 1988, when records are available.
The semester continued a terrific run of academic success for the team under coach Ben Dunbar, as it marked the third straight semester that the Lobo Men’s Tennis program turned in a top-five program GPA. Additionally, the team now has extended its run of consecutive semesters with a 3.2 to 17 straight.
The Lobo squad, 1-1 on the season and next facing Oregon on Super Bowl Sunday in Eugene, had the second-best GPA of the nine men’s programs in the department, and they helped lead the way to the male student-athletes tying the school record with a 3.13 combined GPA.
“I’m very proud of the work that our team has done in the classroom,” said Dunbar. “It’s an emphasis in recruiting, and it’s a credit to the tremendous faculty at UNM, and our academic support staff.”
