ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to return to the road this week as the Lobos travel to Colorado State for a 2 p.m. contest on CBS Sports Network on Saturday afternoon.

The Lobos (8-7, 2-1 MW) enter Saturday’s matchup after starting the Mountain West season 2-0, including a 27-point victory over then No. 5/6 Nevada on Saturday before falling to UNLV at home on Tuesday night. Colorado State (6-10, 1-2 MW) kicked off conference play 0-2 before claiming a 23-point win over Air Force for its first MW win of the season on Tuesday in Fort Collins.

CSU is led by a trio of players averaging scoring in double figures including redshirt-junior Nico Carvacho (16.2), redshirt-senior J.D. Paige (15.0) and redshirt-junior Anthony Masinton-Bonner (12.9).

The Lobos remain led by senior Anthony Mathis who averages 15.9 points per game and is currently ranked 11th in the nation in both 3-point field goals per game (3.67) and total 3-point field goals (55). Also leading the UNM offense is redshirt-sophomore Vance Jackson (12.0 ppg) and redshirt-junior Carlton Bragg (10.4 ppg).

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos lead the series with the Rams 77-46 but are 25-32 on the road at Moby Arena. The last time UNM visited Fort Collins, on Feb. 28, 2018, the Lobos came away with a 108-87 victory breaking the program record for largest victory margin over the Rams in Fort Collins (21). The previous high was 19 in 2008.

The 108 points in Moby Arena was the second of back-to-back 100+ point road games for UNM for the first time in program history (first was at Wyoming, 119-114, Feb. 20) and also marked the fourth win of UNM’s 7-1 streak to finish the 2017-18 season.

Saturday’s contest will mark the first time Coach Paul Weir has faced CSU under new head coach Niko Medved.
