Hart, Jenkins Named Captains for 2018
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A pair of seniors, linebacker Alex Hart, and offensive lineman Aaron Jenkins, were named captains for the 2018 season in voting by their teammates. It marks the first time since the 1976 season that the Lobos will only have two permanent captains (Robin Cole and Dave Green).
Every team and program needs leadership. Our players voted for captains and our leadership council … and here they are! Congrats to all for a great honor, including @A_AronJ55 & @plwrestler as team captains! #GoLobos pic.twitter.com/9MTDIxv32e

Along with Hart and Jenkins, eight other players were named to the team’s leadership council. Those players were seniors Coltin Gerhart (quarterback), D’Angelo Ross (cornerback), Bijon Parker (safety), Emmanuel Harris (wide receiver), Sitiveni Tamaivena (linebacker), Evahelotu Tohi (linebacker), and Cody Baker (defensive end). The only junior voted to the leadership council was defensive lineman Aaron Blackwell.
The leadership council represents the interest of the team and serves as a liaison to the coaching staff. While the council handles things including helping to select uniform combinations each week, it also meets regularly with Coach Davie on a variety of topics from student-athlete welfare to the type of music played before events.
Last season Hart was a captain along with Lamar Jordan, Blaise Fountain and Jake Rothschiller.
