ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — DonTrell Moore’s No. 22 jersey was already familiar to folks in New Mexico before he became a Lobo star. It was with the Coyotes in Roswell that he made his name. He wanted to play college football. He wanted to stay close to home so that the rock in his life, his mom, could watch him play.
He came the UNM in 2001 and redshirted. The rest, as they say, is history. The all-time leading rusher in UNM history, and second-leading rusher in Mountain West history, works in Albuquerque, serving the youth of the area. But it all started with wanting to be a Lobo so his mom could see him play, and she never missed a home game.
