Women’s basketball game at Long Beach cancelled
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The final non-conference game of the season for the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team has been canceled due to travel issues out of Albuquerque on Friday.
The Lobos were set to take their 10-1 record to California and take on Long Beach State on Saturday, December 29, but due to blizzard conditions in Albuquerque throughout the day on Friday, flight travel was hindered and in some cases canceled altogether.
“It is unfortunate for sure,” said head coach Mike Bradbury. “We were looking forward to playing Long Beach, but while rare, these things do happen and Mother Nature did not allow us to travel. We are excited about returning the Pit next week and opening up Mountain West play.”
With the cancellation of their final non-conference game, the Lobos will now turn their attention to the upcoming slate of Mountain West Conference games. First among those is a home game on January 2 against Air Force.
