ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Weeks after signing an NLI to swim collegiately at the University of New Mexico, one of the newest Lobos will be swimming at the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships this week in Hangzhou, China.
Nicholle Toh, a recent UNM signee from Singapore, will be competing from Dec. 11 to Dec. 16 in her specialty of the 100- and 200- meter butterfly.
Swimming on the international stage is nothing new to the swimmer, as she has competed in countless championships before, both in Singapore and around the world.
Earlier this year, Toh competed in the 2018 FINA Swimming World Cup European and Asian cluster of the world cup in Eindhoven, Budapest and Singapore.
During her high school career at the British International School, Phuket, Toh broke several Swim Academy records. She set records in the 100-meter butterfly, 50-meter butterfly, 200-meter butterfly, 200-meter free, 50-meter free, 400-meter free and the 100-meter IM. At the 2016 FINA/ airweave Swimming World Cup, she set a national record in the 200-meter butterfly en route to the bronze medal. Her time of 2:11.26 broke a then-16-year-old record.
Toh is set to join the UNM swim team in the fall of 2019.
