#LobosGiveWeek: Monday, Dec 10 – Friday, Dec 14

The UNM Lobo Club is kicking off its inaugural “#LobosGiveWeek” next week from Monday, December 10 to Friday, December 14, to help raise funds for student-athlete scholarships at The University of New Mexico.

Fans should look for special videos and social media messages with the hashtag #LobosGiveWeek

With over 450 student-athletes and roughly 350 on scholarship at UNM, the University’s athletic department has a yearly scholarship cost of over $5 million per year to cover. The Lobo Club raises money annually to help cover those costs.

44722Eddie Nunez, Director of Athletics at UNM stated his thanks for support of scholarships and encourage people to get involved, “Thank you for your continued support of our student-athletes. The opportunity to secure an education at The University of New Mexico is very special. During this Lobos Give Week, I am asking you to give to our cause of supporting student-athletes so they have the opportunities and experiences to not only succeed on the playing field, but also in the classroom.”

With the addition of Lobos Give Week next week, the Lobo Club has set a goal of raising $50,000 throughout the week to go to the Lobo Scholarship Fund. Director of Development for Annual Giving, Paige Klostermann has said, “Last year the Lobo Scholarship Fund raised $2.2 million to help offset the $5 million scholarship bill that the University has each year. This year, our goal is to get to $2.4 or higher. We think Lobos Give Week will be a great way to show our fans and supporters just how much a scholarship means to UNM student-athletes”.

The annual cost for an in-state student-athlete scholarship at the University of New Mexico is roughly $22,986 (see graphic attached). Scholarships can consist of tuition, room and board books, and cost of attendance.

Klostermann continued that, “Participation in Lobos Give Week is simple and that any and all donations make a difference.”
