ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A night after scoring 15 runs on seven hits, the offense of the Cherry team picked up where it left off as they scored 12 runs on 13 hits on Friday night to cruise past Silver 12-5, and in the process take the intrasquad series, 3-1.

Cherry didn’t waste any time in getting on the scoreboard in Game 4 as Jared Mang doubled home Micah Wiggs and Derek Marshall, both of whom walked ahead of Mang to begin the game. Two batters later, Mang came home on a sacrifice fly to right field off the bat of Jeff Diemling.

In the bottom half of the inning, however, Silver put together a two-out rally that produced a pair of runs to make it a 3-2 game through one inning of play. Sparking the two-out rally was Connor Mang as he drew a walk. In the next at-bat, C. Mang scored on a double down the left field line by Tanner Baker. On that play, Baker took third on the throw in trying to cut down C. Mang. Reese O’Farrell then singled to short to score Baker.

Cherry was held off the board in the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning, Silver registered another two-out RBI as Hayden Schilling doubled to deep centerfield to score Brayden Merritt, who singled to left two batters prior.

With the game tied a three-all, neither team scored in the third, but a monster six-run top of the fourth put Cherry on their way to the runaway victory. All the damage done in the frame came with two outs for Cherry. The initial blow in the inning was a two-run single through the right side by Marshall. That was then followed by a two-run single by J. Mang. The final blow was a two-run home run out to left field that was crushed by Robert Campillo.

An inning later, Marshall added two more RBIs to his total as he singled up the middle. The final run for Cherry scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom half of that inning, Silver scored a pair of runs to bring the game to its final of 12-5.

Despite Cherry claiming the series 3-1, the fifth and final game will be played on Saturday afternoon beginning at Noon.
