After two seasons of basically never getting off the bench and never getting a chance, Anthony Mathis wasn't having any fun playing basketball. Then a coaching change happened, and new head coach Paul Weir watched Mathis ... on the bench. He instinctively knew there was a player dying to bust out. Now, Mathis is UNM's leading scorer, on track to graduate, and very, very happy about staying at New Mexico and playing in front of UNM's wild fans every night.
