Trio of Lobos earn All-Pacific Region honors from United Soccer Coaches
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches released their 2018 All-Region teams on Monday afternoon and a program-record three players from the University of New Mexico women’s soccer team earned the regional honor with Jennifer Munoz, Jessie Hix and Gwen Maly garnering the plaudits.

Before Monday’s announcement, only two players total had been named All-Region with the last coming in 2011.
All three players honored by the United Soccer Coaches were previously named to the All-Mountain West First Team.
Jennifer Muñoz
A senior captain, Muñoz enjoyed a great final collegiate campaign as the Mission Viejo, Calif. native scored five goals and notched five assists.
Her goal total was second on the team, while her assists were tops. She also ranked tied for second in the Mountain West in assists. A starter in all 21 games, Muñoz was second on the team in minutes played with 1,719.
Jessie Hix
A junior product of Eldorado High, Hix continued to be one of the most talented and dominant midfielders in the conference, especially in the air.
For the year, Hix has scored four goals and dished out three assists to total 11 points. Hix also played and started in 18 of the 21 games and logged over 1,500 minutes on the field.
Gwen Maly
Maly, a redshirt sophomore from Lake Forest, Calif., had a breakout season for the Lobos. She ended the year tied for team lead and ranked in a tie for second in the conference in goals scored with seven. Maly has also added an assist to her ledger to total 15 points. Her point total tied for fourth-best in the conference.
One of the top offensive threats on the league’s most potent offense, Maly played in 20 games, made 14 starts and logged 1,070 minutes.
